Elgin sweepers have been cleaning roadways since 1914.  It all began at the turn of the century with inventor John Murphy of Elgin, Illinois.  Mr. Murphy recognized the serious health hazards caused by polluted streets and invented the world's first machine that automatically picked up street debris.  This remarkable piece of equipment eliminated the need for a man with a shovel and helped solve the sanitation problems of the day.

With very few exceptions, every highway construction specification of every state department of transportation in the United States requires sweeping of every foot of roadway that has been milled prior to being resurfaced with hot mix asphalt.

The Eagle is available with a waterless dust control option as well. Built on a commercial chassis, the Eagle’s dual mode air suspension system allows the operator to switch from a solid rear axle for sweeping and dumping stability to a fully sprung chassis for greater operator comfort and control during high speed transport.
